William Ramsay

(1852-1916)

William Ramsay, an English scientist and collaborator of another scientist, John Rayleigh, is best known for isolating basic gases from Earth's atmosphere. He received a Nobel Prize for chemistry in 1904. He was the first to isolate a natural form of helium and discovered the gases called neon, xenon, krypton and argon.
